The Vertuo Next espresso maker is a redesigned edition of Vertuo, retaining the performance and quality of the coffee.

Nespresso Vertuo Next is a modern-day coffee maker that caters to the modern lifestyle and small apartments. It brews the perfect rich, luxurious drink with the thick crema; you like it to be. It also caters to the quantity you prefer: a cup full or a mug full. It is an energy-efficient, software-enabled espresso maker which you connect to your phone by Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

Detailed Review of Nespresso Vertuo by DeLonghi

i) Design

• Futuristic.
• Compact.
• Available in colors.

This coffee maker has a futuristic, “urban design”- stylish and sustainable. The curved body is from 54% recycled plastic. On that note- the curvaceous structure makes it more compact and eye-pleasing. It has a raised logo at the front. The appliance comes in colors from simple white, gray, and red to premium chrome and rose gold hues combined with black.

The coffee and espresso maker weighs about 4 kg and measures 5.6 x 16.9 x 12.4 inches / 14.2 x 42.9 x 31.4 cm- slim but a little long in-depth, as mentioned. Whether it is your kitchen counter or other areas of your house, as long as you have a socket point, you can keep the Vertuo Next anywhere- it is virtually mess-free and comes with a removable water tank.

After unboxing, the coffee maker went on a couple of weeks’ trial in my kitchen so that I could draw a detailed report-here it is. This coffee maker reads the barcode on each coffee capsule placed inside to brew them correctly. It also means you have to use Nespresso capsules only.

Brewing could never have been easier. Place the capsule and press the only button on the top. The machine uses centrifugation force and spins at 7000 rpm to deliver the smooth, luxurious coffee with thick, brown, golden crema on the top. To test the held up of crema and as I like my coffee, I added sugar and gave a well-stir. To my surprise, the crema reformed immediately. It works as it claimed; while working, there was no splashing.

Based on taste, it is how you like your coffee- what you find great can be awful to others. But, if asked how smooth it was? It gets a thumbs up.

iii) Power

The appliance consumes 1260W electricity to warm up fast and provide the perfect hot coffee. Precisely, it needs 30 seconds to get ready to brew the bold, rich flavor of the beverage.

iv) Features

• Aeroccino 3 for milk frothing.

The espresso machine comes with a water tank of 1.1L pretty good for making several coffees in a row without refill. You can make coffee of five different sizes, ranging from 41 ml to 414 ml. be it espresso, double espresso, large lungo, or mighty Alto. You can also prepare a carafe of 18 ounces in it. Even the cup holders are adjustable (sliding) so that every cup or mug conveniently fits under the spout.

For a hassle-free and easy clean-up, you get a removable drip tray and an easy-to-remove built-in bin, which can hold up to 10 used pods.

v) Extra features

• Bluetooth connectivity.

Nespresso espresso machines are known for being energy-efficient, and this one is no exception. Vertuo Next shut off automatically after 2 minutes, reducing the impact on energy on the machine and the bill. You can turn it off manually by pressing the button for 3 seconds.

You can operate the Vertuo Next with your iPhone or Android. Download the Nespresso app; connect it through your Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. It is not a magic app that prepares coffee for you but a more practical one that alerts you about the low water level; when it needs descaling and tracks the capsule used. This app is the place for software updates; yes, this coffee machine needs software updates as that is the world we live in now.

Nespresso indicates that they are upgrading the internal software to provide ever-better coffee quality.

vi) Cleaning

• Notify descaling.
• Hassle-free.

The Nespresso Vertuo Next conducts minimal mess when it comes to cleaning up. For the first cleaning cycle, press the single button indicator three times within two seconds. It flushes water through the system.

When it is time to descale, the machine notifies you through a series of blinks or the app. It takes about 20 minutes to complete descale.

vii) Price of Nespresso Vertuo Next by DeLonghi

The Nespresso Vertuo Next espresso maker is available in 3 versions; the standard version- Dark Grey, White, Light Grey, and Red within $149. The Vertuo Next Premium comes in Black and Rich Brown with chrome finishes. It costs about $180. The Vertuo Next Deluxe is of stainless steel with light or dark chrome. This one is within $200.

All the versions have the same features, so you pay for the look.

The Nespresso Vertuo Next is a sleek, attractive, and user-friendly automatic coffee and espresso maker. Its features prepare coffee without worrying.

Should you buy Nespresso Vertuo Next?

• Good Coffee: If you love a cup or mug full of good coffee, Vertuo Next makes a rich and smooth Americano, Espresso, Lungo, and Alto. The thick reforming crema is the cherry on top. The taste does vary according to one’s choice and the pods used. Some may have a bit of high bitterness.
• Automatic Espresso Maker: If your wish list focuses on a cost-effective (electricity bill), worry-free, automatic espresso maker which fits easily in your small kitchen or anywhere in your house; the sleek, stylish Vertuo Next is a top contender. From usage to cleaning, everything is hassle-free, whether you are handling it manually or via the app.
• Capsules/Pods: Capsules/Pods or ground coffee is not so much a matter of concern to you, and despite being expensive, if you can manage to purchase the Nespresso capsules (that it only needs), then the espresso machine is for you. Even the expensive Nespresso capsules would cost you less than the monthly coffee shop bill.
• Latte or Cappuccino: If you love to enjoy latte or cappuccino; then Nespresso Vertuo Next with milk frother is just for you. DeLonghi Nespresso Vertuo comes with aeroccino 3. It makes the coffee more enjoyable by frothing hot or cold milk instantly without making any sound. The best part is that you get 10 Nespresso capsule assortments as a complimentary gift.

How to make coffee with the Nespresso Vertuo Next

1. Fill the water tank. Do not hesitate to use bottled or filtered water, If the tap water is very hard. This increase the life of the machine.
2. Lock the top and turn it on to preheat.
3. Place the cup or mug on the holder to adjust the height and avoid splashing while brewing.
4. Unlock and open the top to place the capsule of your choice. It should be upside down.
5. Lock it again and press the single button to start brewing.
6. The used capsule will eject automatically the next time you open it.
